Take a Stroll

Have you ever taken a stroll in the remote Australian outback on your own ? I don’t mean a hike with friends or anything too rigorous. I mean a leisurely walk, in the bush, on your own. It really is an amazing experience if you’re able to do it.

I first experienced it in the late 90’s and I have been doing ever since. For me, it’s usually just before the sun rises or at sunset. As I walk, my sense of smell, touch and awareness of what surrounds me such as the trees, plants, animals, insects and other features of the land are accentuated.

I feel a deeper connection to the land. It’s calming to me and if I had any negative issues bouncing around in my head, they no longer seem to be relevant.

I have time to think. I have time to myself. I have time to slow down and connect again. For me, it’s a very spiritual experience and I definitely feel different both physically and mentally. It’s my very own church – it’s my medicine and it’s probably how I got into photography

I’m not sure if all that makes sense to you, but I hope it does.
