Remarkable Rocks

I’d been to Kangaroo Island in South Australia before and in this case, a place called Remarkable Rocks.

These are a group of large granite boulders perched high above the sea atop a cliff. Over time, nature’s elements have eroded them into their unusual shapes. As I wound my way along a path that would eventually lead me to them, I couldn’t help but think about how and why they were there.

From a distance, they looked like they were perfectly placed sculptures, silhouetted against the setting sun. As I got closer and finally walked amongst them, their sheer size, shape and their isolated location gave me a sense of reverence.

I couldn’t help but gently run my hands over them to the point I was so distracted, I almost missed the grand finale that nature was giving me – an incredibly beautiful and vibrant sunset as a backdrop.
