Chilly Waters

The water was icy cold and the river was flowing freely as it had rained in the area the day before. I had walked along the slippery banks for quite a way from camp, searching for a composition. My concern was that the light was starting to fade quite quickly and that I wouldn’t be able to find a scene I liked.

I finally found a composition. In my haste in trying to set up, I slipped, and I ended up thigh deep in the chilly waters. It was only then I realised just how deceptively cold the water was.

I had enough time to take the shot, pack up and then start the long walk back to camp. The walk back was even more difficult as I was weighed down by heavy, wet clothes, socks and boots.

I couldn’t wait to change into something warm, start a fire and enjoy a hot tea followed by a nice glass of red.
